Lisa Yvette Drake is the first child and only daughter of Caden Drake Sr. and his wife Yvette. When she was just five years old, Lisa got a baby brother, Caden, Jr.. She was an only child until her younger brother Caden arrived five years later, but since he was more animated than her copious amounts of Barbie dolls, she loved him from the start and there wasn't a day that went by that she didn't love him to bits. The family is from a long line of Broadway Producers, and it was just a natural for Caden and his father to continue the family tradition. The Drakes having a prominent name in the theatre business, not just in the USA but the West End in London. It was their Great Great grandfather who started producing on the West End, with the family wealthy by lineage hailing from the county of Surrey with heritage stemming from English peerage for hundreds of years. Their Grandfather, Hamilton Drake, took the family profession to Broadway in New York where he settled with his family and went on to win many awards for his productions.
Caden's father followed in his footsteps, and Caden (Jr.) grew up tagging along with his father with his Broadway productions and was in the business himself by the time he was 20. When their father needed to retire due to ill-health with heart problems, Caden took over and won his first Tony Award at 24 years old. Although Lisa and Caden were born into old money, their parents always encouraged them to find their own success. This resulted in Caden topping his classes in High School and going on to study a double degree of Business and Arts at Columbia University where his successful streak with top grades continued. Despite being born into old family money, Caden is now wealthy in his own right due to the success of his own productions.
Lisa, on the other hand, was a different story completely. She went and fell for the "bad boy" in high school, Jeremy Prewitt, which averted her concentration from her studies for awhile. They lost their virginity to each other when they were 15. Jeremy being the typical bad boy at school and Lisa the rich daddy's girl from the wealthy Drake family. Lisa was never really in love with Jeremy, she just hung around with him for a thrill and fell pregnant to him when she was just sixteen years old, resulting welcoming her son, Brendan into the world. It was a disappointment for her parents, but they stood by her when she wanted to keep the baby. It wasn't long after she fell pregnant that Jeremy got thrown in prison for twelve months for larceny, but once he was out, he came back to Lisa and professed his undying love for her and wanted to help her raise the baby.
The reunion lasted until Brendan was two, and at 19, she fell pregnant again. This time, never having been able to keep a job, Jeremy skipped out and Lisa never saw him again. It left her with Brendan in the midst of his Terrible Twos that were about to turn into the Terrible Threes, and a new baby sister for him, Maisy. Her mother helped her raise the children and Caden loved being an uncle. In fact, Brendan was always close to his Uncle Caden, even when Lisa moved to London with her son and daughter, they still kept in touch. Lisa chose to move to England to pursue her love of drama and acting. Theatre was in the family's blood, and whilst it was Caden who was destined to follow in their producing footsteps, Lisa desperately yearned to be in the spotlight rather than behind the scenes.
She had a natural talent and as Brendan and Maisy got older, she managed to work her way up to being a West End star in her late 20s, and even mentored Brendan's best friend, Bryce Rowen when he got his own first West End role at a young age. It wasn't long after that when Maisy was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder when her school grades really slipped and she began having periods of deep depression. It lead to her trying to commit suicide by overdosing on her meds when she was 16 and Brendan was 18. Her odd moods over the years drove a wedge between her and Brendan, who was more the quiet brooding type. Maisy started to target him, picking on him, verbally abusing him, and then, in the wake of her suicide attempt, she got into a physical altercation with him and pushed him down the stairs.
Brendan really struggled with his sister's illness. He wanted to help her and be understanding, but when he was the first person she targeted during her episodes, he started to withdraw and ended up going to live with his grandparents in Surrey, England, at their large manor home where they had retired once Caden took over business. Brendan loved music and his link to the family business was that his ambition was to become a Theatre Musical Director, the person who teaches the music to the performers, rehearses the band, and usually conducts the performers during the show. He completed two years of a Bachelor of Music at Cambridge University. Things had healed between him and Maisy, with her condition controlled on medication and she, too, enrolled in university to study Costume Design. But in the summer following Brendan's second year at university, Maisy had another severe Bipolar episode where she threatened to kill Brendan, and it was just finally too much for him.
He quit university and after a long talk with his uncle in New York, Caden invited Brendan to go live with him there and aim to pick up in another New York college to finish his degree. He also offered Brendan a job working on the music for his upcoming Broadway production of Footloose: The Musical. Though, by the time Brendan made it to New York, the musical had been put on indefinite hiatus due to the lead male star, 16 year old Justin Campbell being hospitalised and the entire cast fired due to drug involvement. Brendan wasn't aware at the time that Justin, too, had Bipolar and it was a lot to do with his hospitalisation. Caden wanted nothing more than to help his nephew get back on his feet and encourage him to chase his dreams.
Lisa is now a household name in the British acting industry, and has become quite the style icon. After a long run as Velma Kelly in Chicago on West End, she was approached by an old family friend in the business who wanted to relaunch the musical on Broadway. This meant making the choice to leave the West End behind for now and follow her brother and son to New York. It wasn't an easy decision, but with Maisy now living with her parents in Surrey and content with the arrangement, Lisa decided there truly wasn't anything keeping her in London at that point in her life. When the press release came that she was going to reprise her long run as Velma, but this time on Broadway, she was approached by Rian Ambrose to become the face of her latest collection for her exclusive designer label, Ambrosiere.
She has purchased a cute little classic-designed apartment just a few blocks from where Caden lives and not far from the Broadway theatre she'll be working at. Brendan will keep living with Caden, because he has settled there nicely and Lisa doesn't want to be one of those mums who cramp their kid's style by any means. She is looking forward to the new start, and maybe after a hell of a long time without romance, she might have a better chance of finding love in the biggest city in the world.
